I am a textile designer with a strong focus on connecting traditional craftsmanship with contemporary fashion. I work as Product Developer Director at MAZ Manuela Alvarez, a renowned Colombian fashion brand recognized for its commitment to sustainability and the preservation of artisanal techniques. In this role, I collaborate closely with artisans and communities across Colombia to co-develop textile collections that honor traditional craft practices while introducing innovative design solutions. This experience has allowed me to lead participatory design processes, ensuring that artisans' voices and expertise are integral to every stage of development.
I have deepened my understanding of the cultural and social significance of craft and the importance of fostering respectful, ethical partnerships with artisans. My work involves bridging the gap between heritage techniques and contemporary market demands, maintaining the authenticity of traditional practices while aligning with modern fashion aesthetics. My passion for artisanal development is rooted in the belief that fashion can serve as a vehicle for cultural preservation and sustainable innovation.
My goal is to lead projects that amplify artisans' contributions, merge traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge techniques, and promote a more equitable and culturally sensitive approach to the fashion industry.
